Abstract It could be concluded that the definitive haemopoietic process stared in the fetal liver before the 12th day of gestation reaching the maximum activity at 12-13 days of gestation to be gradually decreased after the 16th day of gestation and so postnatally till the age of 10 days postnatally when the haemopoietic process completely disappeared. As the process of haemopoiesis declined in the liver the spleen stared its activity to play a very important role in its transition from liver to bone marrow. The haemopoietic process in the fetal spleen is predominantly erythropoietic and was started to be obvious at the 16 days of gestation, to reach maximum activity before birth at 18 days of gestation, then decline gradually from the age of 10 days after birth. The site of haemopoiesis is finally transformed to the bone marrow which will carry the burden of haemopoiesis after birth and forever till death. |
