There are no Ecological Sustainability practicies taken into consideration while designing a new High-Rise Building in Egypt and there is no appropriate Sustainable Assessment Tool to guide this action so this research identified the required strategies to reach sustainability in new constructed High-Rise Buildings through a suitable Sustainable Assessment Tool and discussed their applicability to use in Egypt.
The research addressed the concept of High-Rise Building and sustainability definition and why do we need Sustainable High-Rise Building. It also focused on the relation between the building and nature, the natural laws and principles of ecological sustainability.
The research discussed the different sustainable design guides and their role. It also introduced The LEEDTM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) design guide, its credits (Sustainable Site, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality) , the different strategies to reach sustainability, how to evaluate any project and why to be LEED certified.
The research presented a study and analysis of a set of Sustainable High-Rise Buildings examples where different strategies for energy conservation and ecological sustainability were implemented and their integration with architecture and it also presented a vision of a Building Sustainability Assessment Tool (BSAT) which is appropriate to Egypt s requirements which is adapted from LEED Checklist for new construction.
Finally, it introduced a set of conclusions and recommendations to motivate the application of these strategies of energy conservation and sustainability in High-Rise Buildings in Egypt.
