Abstract The present study was performed to investigate the effect of using a program of critical reading strategies in training pre-service teachers of English on their acquisition and use of these strategies and on their level of performance in reading comprehension. Subjects of the present study consisted of one hundred first year English majors, faculty of education, Minia university. They were randomly divided into two group : the treatment and the non-treatment group. The treatment group received no such instruction. Tools of the study includes : A training program in some critical reading strategies, A test in the use of critical reading strategies , A test in reading Comprehension. The training program involves three strategies, A test in the use of critical reading strategies, A test in reading comprehension. The training program involves three strategies previewing, reflective reading, and evaluating atext. |
