Abstract

Different exercise test on the bicycle or on the treadmill under continuous electrocardiographic monitoring can give us an idea about coronary atherosclerosis, but this test has many complications and On the other hand, nuclear imaging study of the myocardium can be useful in the diagnosis of coronary atherosclerotic disease, but, this examination cannot be performed immediately on a broad scale, and there are false positives results. Coronary angiography has restrictions because this is an invasive and expensive investigation Thus, coronary angiography cannot be used routinely as a preventive test and we receive scanty informations about the composition, condition, and quality of the coronary vessel wall.. B-mode duplex ultrasound allows noninvasive imaging of large superficial arteries and because of the difficulty in accessing the coronary bed, most noninvasive imaging of atherosclerosis has been targeted at other arteries like common carotid arteries (82). Although intima media thickness of carotid arteries have a good correlation with coronary atherosclerosis but it is an area of debate, the accuracy of B-mode ultrasonic measurement of sub millimeter distances may affect the results. In our study we use Gensini score to assess the severity of coronary atherosclerosis among our patients because Gensini score depend on Two factors first; the percentage of stenosis , second ; the location of the lesion & also Gensini score gives us wide range of score number between our patients ; so there was highly significant difference between the our studied groups .
