Abstract Surgical removal (hysterectomy or myomectomy has long been mainstay of treatment for symptomatic myomas. Hysterectomy is likely to relieve menstrual problems in all patients but it removes the uterus on the other hand, myomectomy preserves the uterus but the recurrence rate with in 5 years may be near 50%.There was reduction in fibroid volume in both groups in the follow up period with no significant difference between both groups and there was improvement in symptoms in both groups in 89% of patient. |
