Abstract
Noise has been recognized as harmful over 2500 years. Noise annoys, awakens, angers and frustrates people.this study was carried out to detect the prevalence of noise-induced hearing loss among workers in the Yemen Factory of food products. This was a descriptive study. The study was done in Yemen factory for food products in Taiz, Yemen.
All the workers and all the employees were included to this study(500workers and 100 employees). Personal history was taken from each worker and employee. History for duration of noise exposure and using of ear protection. Pure tone audiometer, Speech audiometer was done.
We found that there was a significant reduction in workers high frequencies especially at 2,4,8 Hz.
There was significant affection in workers with advanced age compared to the employee in the same group.
There was significant affection in workers with more duration of noise exposure compared to the employee in the same group.
there was significant reduction in high frequencies in not used ear plugs workers and employees. SRT & SDS were not affected in both workers and employees. We recommend regular hearing monitoring each 6 months Using ear protection during day work time, Avoid socioacusis, Hearing conservation program.
