Abstract
The aim of this study was to:1- Isolation and characterization of Staphylococcus aureus from
nosocomial cases hospitalized in Mansoura University Hospitals.
2- Assess the nosocomial infection rate with MRSA among the
different patient populations admitted in different Departments in
Mansoura University Hospitals.
3- Detection of the mecA gene in Methicillin Resistant Staph. aureus
(MRSA) isolates which encodes Methicillin resistance using PCR
technique.
4- Investigation of sensitivity and resistance of Staph. aureus isolated
to different antibiotics commonly used in treatment of infectious
diseases.
5- Estimation of the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and
minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC).
