المستخلص Albuminuria has been shown to predict cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in individuals with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus independent of conventional cardiovascular risk factors including age, arterial hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. This is a case control analytic study that was conducted in the National Heart Institute and Ain Shams University Hospital in order to study the association of microalbuminuria with left ventricular systolic function in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The study included 2 groups, the first group included 50 diabetic patients with impaired left ventricular (LV) systolic function (EF < 45%), and the second group ”control group” included another 50 diabetic patients with normal LV systolic function (EF > 45%). Results of the current study showed that there was significant difference between the studied group and controls regarding the systolic parameters (EDD, ESD, EF% and FS%), (P < 0.05). There was significant difference between the two groups regarding the E wave, A wave and E/A ratio (P < 0.05). |
