Abstract

Chronic kidney disease(CKD) as evidenced of structural or functional kidney abnormalities (abnormal urine analysis, imaging studies or histology ) that persist for at least three months with or without decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR) as defined by (GFR) of less than 60ml /min/1.73m surface area CKD lead to many of complications as hypertension, diabetes, anemia, renal osteodystrophy, malnutrition cardiovascular disease, nerve damage. Malnutrition is recognized to be a serious and common complication of CKD and is associated with increasedmorbidity and mortality in children. Nutritional status should be monitored regularly in all children with chronic renal diseases Evaluation of nutritional status in children with chronic renal diseases done by anthropometric measurement(weight, height, head circumference, mid arm circumference, BMI) and biochemical assessment(albumin, cholesterol, total protein, Na,K.Ca.Po4 This study was carried out to evaluation nutritional status in children with chronic renal diseases. This study was conducted on 45 patients with chronic renal diseases which divided into 3 group hereditary and congenital diseases, glomerulopathies and others causes of CKD and45 children with no disease as control on the same age Menofiya University Hospital.
