Abstract

As with many definitions of disability, it is important to know which is being used when interpreting the data presented For example ,one of the most inclusive definitions is that used by the American National Center for Health Statistics (ANCHS),which provides much of data about characteristics of disabilities.
The ANCHS definition classifies someone as having a disability if he or she has any of the following A specific physical , functional ,mental ,emotional disability or limiting condition -Significant limitations in performing daily self maintenance activities.-Need for the use of special equipment or devices, such as a wheelchair breathing aid .-Limitation in a major or other life activity because of physical ,mental or mental problems In Egypt, “a disabled child ” means a child who need rehabilitation service to meet the basic needs in society because impairment such as movement-related function, sensory function and mental function brings physical, social, economical and psychological disability.The aim of this study was to support families with disabled child and training them how to deal with different difficulties that face their disabled child specially with neurodevelopmental disabilities and some of more common chronic diseases This present study was carried out upon 85 already diagnosed cases of disabled children especially with neurodevelopmental disability with age ranged from 1 year to 12 years,52 males and 33 females in pediatric department in Menofiya university outpatient clinic for about 15 months from March 2007 to June 2008 through:B- first step:Three months before actual study, we selected our cases randomly from already diagnosed cases coming to our clinics for the last year before the study. Criteria of selected groups of study depend on :1-High prevalence of the disease .2-Needed supporting of the disease.
