Abstract

Theincreasing role of ambulatory surgery has emphasized the need for an anaethetic technique that characterized by smooth reliable induction ,hemodynamic stability , smooth rapid recovery and low incidence of side effects.
Inhaled volatile anaeshetics are widely used for maintenance of general anaesthesia because of their ease of administration and predictable intra-operative and recovery characteristics.
The availability of rapid short acting intravenous anaesthetics and analgesics has increased the interest in the use of continuous intravenous infusion (TIVA ) as alternaive to standard conventional inhalational technigues for maintenance of anaesthesia.
