Abstract
Piroxicam is one of the most potent non-steroidal antiinflammatory agents, which also exhibits antipyretic activity. it is used as an effective analgesic and antiinflammatory agent in rheumatoid arthitis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis , and acute musculoskeletal disorders. Although the usual oral dose of PXM is well tolerated by the patients, yet several side effects have been reported including gastrointestinal disturbamce.in addation , peptic ulcer has been reported in about 9% of the patients with chronic arthritis when treated with 20mg of daily oral dose. Patient compliance is also a common therapeutic problem in the management of chronic inflammatory diseases because most NSAIDs must be administered in multiple daily dose to maintain therapeutic blood level.
