Abstract

The objectives of this investigation were: 1) To study two Egyptian fish families; namely family Cichlidae; represented by different genera Oreochromis niloticus, Oreochromis aureus, Sarotherodon galilaeus and Tilapia zillii and family Mugilidae; which include Mugil cephalus and Mugil capito, all these species are cultured at different levels of salinity in some locations in Egypt. 2) To compare these different genotypes under their different level of salinity. 3) To study the effect of salinity on gene expression as indicated by the electrophoretic profiles of SDS proteins and some isozymes systems such esterase, peroxidase, lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase.
