Abstract Aim of the work The aim of the work is to study the affection of the hypothalamo-pituitary adrenal function in patients with chronic renal failure and its relation to the period of dialysis. Conclusion 1- In subjects with chronic renal failure serum cortisol and ACTH levels were significantly increased than in control group. 2- I n subjects with chronic renal failure where as duration of dialysis was more than 10 years the basic ACTH and cortisol levels were significantly increase than in control group. 3- Levels of cortisol and ACTH were increased in patients dialyzed more than 10 years than in patients dialyzed less than 10 years. 4- In patients dialyzed less than 10 years had serum cortisol levels less than control whera as ACTH levels more than controls. |
