Abstract Aim of the work To compare the efficacy and safety of injection sclerotherapy and band ligation in the treatment of bleeding esophageal verices. Conclusions On the basis of lower rate of rebleeding mortality and complication and the need for fewer treatment sessions. Ligation should be considered as the endoscopic treatment of choice for patients with esophageal varices bleeding. Recommendations 1- Do further study on the band ligation on a large number of patients and for a longer time of follow up to study more the incidence of complications. 2- Combine band ligation together with variceal sclerotherapy to decrease the incidence of recurrence. |
