Abstract

Aim of the work
Is to assess long term effect of oral colchicine in liver fibrogenesis and liver functions in patients with cirrhosis together; with study the relationship of procollagen type III and laminin as parameter of fibrogenesis in chronic liver disease before and after treatment.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that ultrasonography can be used safely as diagnostic procedure to detect the type as well as grade of fibrosis and can be used also for follow up the response to any medical interventions. Also, it can be concluded that hepatic fibrogenesis, especially in early stages of hepatomegaly, can be a reversible process through out using anti-fibrotic agent. One of which is colchicine in a very safe dose I mg per day or 5 days per week.
