Abstract
The aims of this work are:
1-to detect the prevalence of mood disorders and subsyndromal depression in the rural
community in El-Minia Governorate namely El-Borgayah village.
2-to know the distribution of these disorders and subsyndrome in the rural community
in El-Minia Governorate in relation to sociodemographic factors.
3- To find out how these disorders manifest and their degree of severity in this rural
community.
4-to assess the co morbidity between mood disorders and anxiety
5-to attempt to estimate the degree of impairment in quality of life resulting from this
group of disorders and the help seeking behavior 1- Mood disorders and sub
syndrome related to them.
Conclusion
1- Mood disorders and subsyndrome Represent a major health problem as it was present in about 25%of the sample of the study.Subsyndromal depression represent a significant proportion (25%) of all mood cases
2- The impact of these disorders and sub syndrome on the quality of life and help seeking behavior is significant and marked.
3- Most cases of mood disorders and subsyndrome were, females, illiterates, married with low socioeconomic class.
