Abstract

This study aims to investigate the possible use of some neglected herbs to cure patients from some important diseases widely distributed nowadays.Experimental method using albino rats were followed in present work for investigation of the medical value of some neglected plants &herbs.Herbs &plants formulae (A &B)were added to basal diet at the level 10%.Study of formulated blends as remedy for diabetes mellitus,hypercholesterolemia,acute renal failure and hepatitis is targeted Studied plants divided into two formulae (formula A)Rumex dentatus L.,Avena fatua L,Alhagi graecorum ,Ammi visnga L.,Allium kurrat,Casuarina curninghamiana,Brasica rapa L.,Malva parviflora L.,(formula B)Convovulus arvensis L.,Echinochloa crusgalli L،Portulaca oteracea L,Ficus nitida L.,Juglans regia,Prunus mahaleb, Cynodon dactylon,Bassia indica.Total phenolic composition،flavonoids,carotenoids and Vit.C were assessed in used plants &herbs blends.For evaluation,albino rats were used,and serum analyses (serum glucose, Lipid profile, Liver functions, and Kidney functions),< histopathological analyses &food efficiency ratio were carried out. Results revealed that supplementation with two herbal formulae in diseased rats’diet improve glucose level,lipid fractions,and kidney and liver functions.Such effects may be related to the potent antioxidant properties of herbal formulae.
