Abstract

The number of people with diabetes is increasing due to population growth،aging,urbaniza tion,and increasing th e prev alence of ob esity and physical inactivity.Th e p revalence of d iabetes f or all age-groups worl dwide was estimated to be 2.8%in 2000 and expected to rise to 4.4%in 2030 According to WHO eastern Mediterranean Region statistical data which recorded a nd pre dicted total num ber of people wi th diab etes w orldwide,a nd expected to raise from 171 m illion in 2000 to 36 6 million in 2030,in Egypt ,it is expected to raise from 2.6 million in year 2000 to 6.7 million in year 2030 The Saint -Catheri ne sect or in Southern S inai ha d a va riety of landf orm types and ot her elem ents such as el evation,soil physical c haracteristics including soil texture and nature of the surface),slopes,aspect and topography all play and important role in determining the distribution of plant communities This th esis a ims t o p rovide a c omprehensive study on som e plan t spe cies which have been mentioned in the Holy Q ur’an Kareem from Saint -Catherine biosphere and determine their constituents The aim of this investigat ion is to study the poss ible ef fects of dif ferent< levels of Ficus sp.and Olea eur opaea L .leaves and f ruits on diabetic albino rats This study divided into three main parts:1)Searching and collecting wild and cultivated types of Ficus sp.and Olea europaea L.leaves and f ruits at different maturation stages from Saint-Catherine sector in Southern Sinai,and classified them 2)Produce chem ical analysis,s ugar co ntents,f atty acid contents and qualitative and quantitative analysis of phenol contents in Ficus sp.
