Abstract

Aim of the work
To estimate the prevalence of IgA-RF and AKA in patients with JCA to facilitate the diagnosis of the disease and to evaluate their clinical significance in correlation with disease activity and functional disability.
Conclusion
We concluded that IgA-RF and AKA were more specific, rather than sensitive, markers in diagnosing JCA. The former being specific only for the polyarticular-onset subtype but the later was detected in the all three disease subtypes with no specificity for any one of them. IgA-RF correlated positive to disease activity and severity. Furthermore, combined elevation of IgA-RF and AKA had excellent specificity and positive predictive value of for JCA.
So, we recommended addition of both IgA-RF and AKA to the currently used JCA list of laboratory markers to facilitate the diagnosis of the disease, especially in doubtful cases, also to monitor disease activity and to assess the disease severity.
