Abstract The aim of this work is to study middle ear pressure in cases of adenosis, chronic sinusitis, nasal allergy, septal deviation and atrophic rhinitis and compare their different results. Conclusion: Finally the group of patients with allergic rhinitis comes where the mean middle ear pressure we found to be significantly only as compared group p< 0.05. There was a direct proportional relation between the degree of negativity of the middle ear pressure and the degree of hearing loss, so conductive deafness was present as a common finding in cases of adenoid hyperplasia, less in cases of chronic sinusitis, much less in cases of deviated septum and nearly normal in cases of atrophic rhinitis and allergic patients. Finally, it is advisable to measure the middle ear pressure in cases with chronic nasal obstruction in order to detect early those with negative pressure, also to intervene medically, so surgically with that cases especially when the negativity persists over an extended period. |
