Abstract Aim of the study We discuss in details the problem of single duct discharge, etiology, pathology and management. Summary The results of pathological study proved that the main causes of bloody or serious discharge per nipple are: duct papilloma- duct ectasia- duct carcinoma in situ and rarely fibrocystic disease and duct adenosis. About 91% of cases are associated with benign pathology and 9% of them have a malignant underlying pathology. Microdochectomy is considered to be a diagnostic and curative procedure in case of duct papilloma (the solitary type) and duct ectasia (if it involves only single duct), but in cases of duct carcinoma in situ. We are need for further more invasive procedure in the form of simple mastectomy only or with axillary evacuation. |
