Abstract
shaped cross-sections are considered one of the most widely used cross sections in steel structures especially in beams which are considered the main elements in any steel structure even if the cross-sections are hot rolled or welded sections the out of plane buckling resistance of the compression flange of the simply supported beam is one of the main factors that affect the design of these sections lateral braces are used to support the compression flange laterally at distances obtained during design procedures to reach the full capacity of the cross-cection and consequently have an economic design .
