Abstract The aim of this work is to find, a method by which the components of mixtures of water soluble vitamins in pharmaceutical preparations could be estimated. The problem was approached throUgh two different routes. 1. Comparative study of the different pbarmacopoeal methods (B.P.C63, U.S.P. XVI & E.P.) described for the evaluation of vitamin B1, B2, B6, nicotinaraide and vitamin C. 2. The physical meihods by wb.ich. each of the above mentioned vitamins could be separated in a fairly pure state suitable for quantitative estiuation when present in pharmaceutical preparations. These two routes were studied, investigated and in mast cases modifications of the conditions in the different references were carried out to suit the purpose at band. Several difficulties were encountered and these were surmounted by systematic studying and interpretating the conditions and. results obtained from the huge number of experiments (abiot 700 experiments) done over five years, The recommended method was applied to an authentic sample of a mixture of vitamins and proved to be valid. |
