Abstract
the present experiment was carried out during two consecutive seasons1989 and 1990 on balady mandarin trees budded on sour orange in a private orchard at mallawy (minia governorate) the research undertaken aimed to improve our understanding of
the effect of soil application of k in addition to foliar spraying of ca, mg and B on controlling the yield and improving the fruit quality of balady mandarin trees.
The experiment was set in a completely randomized block desing with three replicates each consisted of one balady mandarin trees.
Fertilization treatment including calcium chloride at 0.5 %, magnesium sulphate at 0.5%and boric acid at 0.1% applied as foliar spray and potassium sulphate (48%k 2o)
At 800 g per tree as soil application as well as all their possible combination were used. Foliar sprays of each tested concentration were carried out four times while the selected rate of k soil addition were divided and applied at four batches. The four dates of application were gust before flower initiation starts and the other three times were at the beginning of vegetative growth 30 days after fruit set and 60 days later.
