Abstract
In order to extend our investigations on the remarkable reactivity of 4-benzoyl -5- phenyl-Furan-2.3 – dione 1 to alkyl substituted analogs we now tried to prepare 5-tert-butyl-4- pivaloyl-furan-2.3- dione 111. starting from the corresponding ketone 107 and oxalyl dichloride and yielding a mixture of 5- chorofuranone derivatives 108 , 109 and 110. these Compounds can be completely converted into furandione 111 , hence 108 overall yield of 111 os about 75 %
