Abstract

The consumption of. camel’s meat was greatly increased in
Egypt during the last few years, this may be attributed to the
insisting demand for animal. protein sources.
Tuberculosis is widely spread in many animal species, but in
camel is still a. poorly studied subject in Egypt, illspite of the
intensive research regarding the disease ill cattle. There are few data,
revealing low incidence of tuberculosis in camels in Egypt.
Tuberculin test which is tile universal test for diagnosis of
tuberculosis in humans and bo ines was tried several times in
camels in Egypt by many authors who used purified protein
derivative (PPD) in both single and single comparative intradermal
cervical test.
’Infection with mycobacterium tuberculosiscontmues to be
a major c-ause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world,
resulting in 3 million deaths and overS million new cases of
tuberculosis each year ._Ioom and Mul’~Y (1992).
Brucellosis has proved to be one of the most important
diseases in camels due tn, the high eoonomic losses beside the public
health importance that make it the most important occupational.
