Abstract

Photo cutalytic degradation of oily wastes was investigated using immobilized tio2 catalyst. The experiments have been conducted under both uv irradiation (using uv-lamp) and solar irradiation.DIP-coating technique was used for immobilization of tio2 catalyst on pyrex glass tubes .
the coated glass tubes were colcined at 573 k. the catalyst activity measurements were carried out using pyrex glass tube reactor of inner diameter 12.8 mm.with in which the coated glass tubes are extending . the reactor has been fixed in the focal line of compound parabolic collector (CPC).
The experiments have been performed with oily simulated sea water .the emulsions were prepared at room temperature using sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactant the effect of variation of both volume flow rate and linitial oil concentration on the degradation process has been examined. The effect of addition of hydrogen peroxide on the catalyst activity has also been tested.
