Abstract Studies based on the oaperio idea of structural scis— sion of atropine molecule led to conclusion that it did not 5eet! to have a highly specific action and the tropine moiety was nothing more than a complex aminoaloohol that can be siniplified and still retaining the antispasmodic activity. rther tuiUes on atropine structure have proved that it is possible to have useful parasyrapatholytic drugs in the form of aminaaloohols, aiinoamides and aminoesters. Moreover, quaternarization of some of these antispas— zaoies resulted in significant variations in activity inc.. luding enhancement, duration and toxicity. The discovery of smooth muscle re’.axant properties among many N—substituted—i---aninobenzoic esters and aIxLde1 inspired the preparation of some analogs derived from 4—aminobenzoic and 4—aminosalicylic acids with the hope that some of them may possess potent muscle relaxant activity. To attain this sin, several new compounds of the general formulae I,II,III,IV,V and VI were synthesised |
