Abstract
– White male mice , Mus musculus , 2 months age , weights 20-25 g , were used as experimental animals in this study . Two products of benzylphenyl urea compounds were selected , diflubenzuron and DOWCO439 . The LD50 values of both compounds were determined according to Litchfield and Wilcoxon (80) method.
The estimated LD 50 values of diflubenzuron is 4.2 g/kg B.W. with 95 % confidence limits of 3.784 to 4.662 and slope is 1.204 .also , LD 50 values for DOWCO 439 to 5.2 g/kg B>W . with 95% confidence limit of 4.793 to 5 .642 and slope is 1.135 .
Both compounds were separately dosaged orally at 1/2 , 1/4 and 1/8 LD 50 value as single dose and dosaged at 10/100, 5/100 and 1/100LD 50 values as repeated doses . The effect of both compounds on mice behaviour and body wright were reported . certain anatomical and histopathological investigations were done . Also , some of biochemical determinations on liver were investigated .
