Abstract The genetic relatedness among V. faba and its wild relatives of genus vicia was studied. Seeds representing four wild species of Vicia and four Egyptian varieties of faba bean were taken from the Agriculture research center; legume department, ministry of agriculture. Giza, Egypt. Karyological measurements, tatal storage seed proteins and RAPD patterns of 33 accessions (about 100 specimens) representing V. narbonensis, V. sativa, V. villosa and V. faba (variety G429, G461, G717 and G843) were studied. Differences in chromosome number and length, secondary constriction and karyotype formula were recorded among the three wild species of V. ervilia, sativa and V. villosa and their accessions. |
