Abstract

One of the crucial problems affecting the durability of reinforced concrete constructions is the premature deterioration caused by the corrosion of reinforcing bars various techniques have been developed and implemented to prevent or at least minimize the corrosion effect Epoxy coating of reinforcing bars is one of those techniques which nowadays widely used in most constructions particularly those exposed to sever weathering conditions. The main objective of this research is to investigate and characterized the statical behavior and fracture machanics of reinforced concrete beams fabricated with epoxy coated stirrups and mainly failed under shear stresses. An experimental programmed to test twenty full.scale reinforced concrete beams of rectangular cross-section (12×30 cm) having a constant shear span to depth ratio (101) has been introduced tests were carried out to identify the stress and deformation characteristics as well as the fracture mechanisms of those beams the existing shearing stress equations according to Eco and Acl building code of practice have been examined.
