Abstract

Measurements of the temperature dependence of ohmic and space-charge-limited (SCL) currents on thin organic films of polycrystalline particles of B-nickel phthalocyanine (NiPc) or B-iron phthalocyanine (FePc),dispersed in apolymer binder .
has been demonstrated that the low-frequency oscil lographic method is a simple and versatile technique to obtain
the C-V measurements for organic solar cells. The dark and il luminated C-V relationshipe for B-NiPc and B-FePc photovoltaic cells have been studied. These characteristics were found to de pend on the metal barrier electrode. The main conclusion obtained from the photo.C-V plots is that the increase of the space-charge density due to illumination is a major concern of the possible limiting factor for the performance of organic solar cells.
experimental processes and their theoretical interpretations of
the performance of the organic photovoltaic cells. This performance can be improved significantly by increasing the open-circuit volt age, which should lead to an increase in the barrier width and consequently light-collection efficiency. Decreasing resistivity (i.e. decreasing trap density) e.g. by doping or by operating the devices above room temperature can also improve the cell performance.
It should be interesting to use electron acceptor materials for the purpose of increasing ouput efficiency. Such materials, when added to the photoactive layer, could lead to increase the ef ficiency of the cell [10SJ, Typical electron acceptor materials include trinitrof]uorenonc, chloranil, ortho-benzoquinone
