Abstract Numbers of visitors to the red sea have been increasing very rapidly during the past two decades and they are expected to increaseeven more in the future. The activities of these visitors are likely to have serious consequences for coral reef communities. This study aims to examine the ways in which coral reefs and their fish communities are affected by the activities of tourists. Six sites with different levels of use were chosen to compara benthic communities and fish assemblages.Benthic composition was assessed using 1m2 quadrats randomly placed on the reef flat of each site. |
