Abstract Work aim to find causes of CPAP failure in these preterm initially put in CPAP as a primary method for assisted ventilation just at the onset of clinical picture of Respiratory Distress Syndrome {RDS ].The study was conducted on 50 randomly selected preterm neonates delivered at EL Galaa teaching hospital and zagazig university hospital admitted in the neonatal intensive care unit because respiratory distress syndrome. They were initially put on CPAP within the first hours of life just at timeof diagnosis of RDS clinically and radiologically. Twenty nine cases were males 58% and twenty one cases were female 42% . Twenty nine were delivered vaginally 58& and twenty one twenty on cesarean section 42% .The mean gestational age for studied cases wa 32.2+2.5 weeks. the mean weight was was 2.1 =0.8 kg.The group of neonates no responding to CPAP shows significantly lower mean values for gestational age weight APgar one and five than the good responder group. |
