Abstract
Aim of the work: This study will focus the light on the sleep disturbances in different psychiatric disorders.
Normal sleep is characterized by continuously varying activity of body
movement, dreaming and physiological and biochemical systems.
On the basis of EEG sleep is made up of two physiological states NREM.and
REM.
NREM sleep is made of up four stages that a normal subject passes through it
from stage 1 ( the highest stage) to stage 4 ( the deepest one).
Serotonin, and acetylcholine Neurotransmitters are closely involved in the
production and maintenance of sleep
