Abstract

This study was carried out during 2002 and 2003 seasons on seventy two vines 7-years old early superior grapevines in a private vineyard located at matay district minia governorate where the soil is silty loam and well drained and with a water table not less than two meters deep. The cane pruning system was used in winter training the vines using Y supporting system. Pruning was carried out at the first week of January in both seasons.vine load was 66eyes/ vine (as six fruiting canes X9 eyes plus 6 replacement spurs X 2 eyes) the uniform in vigour vines are spaced 105X3.0m apart.
Except those dealing with the present treatments all vines received usual horticultural practices such as using N(100g/vine) FYM(20m3/fed)calcium super phosphate (250kg/fed) and potassium sulphate (100kg/fed) pinching hoeing irrigation and pest control.
The experiments included three factors. The first factor was girdling and ungirdling the second one was flower cluster thinning to leave 16 or 20 clusters/vine and the third one evolved three concentrations of a mixture of nutrients containing Zn, Fe and Mn in sulphate form at 0.0,0.2 and 0.4%. therefore the experiment included twelve treatments with three replicates two vines per each.
