Abstract Two field experiments were conducted at the faculty of Agriculture ,minia university in 1990 and 1991 seasons to study the effect of plant population (20000 and 30000pl./fad.),plant distribution and weed control treatments on growth yield ,yield components and protein of cron ( zea mays,L.) variety giza 2 as well as some growth charactoers of weeds., The experimental design was a split-split plot design., The obtained resule could be summarized as following: 1- plant height was increased greatly with increasing plant age. 2- the number of leaves per plant was increased with increasing the days from planting until 75 days,. 3- Stalk diameter significantly decreased by increasing plant population,. 4- sowing on one ridge and two pl./hill combined with two hand hoeings produced the greatest leaf area per plant, . |
