Abstract
The present investigation was carried out with Bim to throw some lights on karyotypic evolution and taxonomic situation in certain Egyptian rodents which were collected from El-Minia governorate.The study included two species:
1) Rattus rattus, two color forms(R.r.alexandrinus and R.r.frugivorus)
2) Rattus norvegicus
Direct chromosome preparations were obtained from the bone morrow cells after administration of colchicine in vivo. To study giemsa banding patterns of chromosomes, the trypsin technique was applied, while constitutive heterochromatin or C-banding of chromosome, the BSG (Barium hydroxide/saline/Giemsa)technique,was applied. For meiotic analysis, giemsa squash method for mammalien testicular material was applied.
