Abstract

1- The aim of this part was to explore the optimum temperature for seed germination. Results Showed that while 25 °C was the most effective temperature yet 35 °C was the most best concerning germination rate.
2-In this part the effects of salinity (NaCl:CaCl2) 1:1 by weight applied at four levels; 0.00, 0.15, 0.30 and 0.60 % and the treatments with the growth regulators GA at 50, 100 and 200 ppm or CCC at 500, 1000 and 2000 ppm as well as their interacting effect on seed germination were studied. The results could summarized as follows:
- All salinity levels in most cases significantly reduced seed germination percentage and the length of both hypocotyls and radical of germinating seeds.
- Gibberellic acid at all concentrations used significantly increased germination percentage and the length of hypocotyl and radical of germinating seeds. While Cycocel in most cases had no significant effects on the three parameters.
- the effects of the interaction between the two factors were in most cases not significant.
