Abstract Aggressive NHL comprises a large spectrum of lymphoproliferative disorders, with different clinical behavior, biological features, prognosis, and response to treatment. Cyclin D3 gene is rearranged and the protein is over expressed in several human malignancies. High cyclin D3 expression is associated with poor response to chemotherapy. Only 40% or fewer of CHOP treated patients are cured. About 2040% of patients which achieve initial CR subsequently developed recurrent disease, and likelihood of. the relapsing from CR depending on patients initial risk profile. This study has been carried out in the Medical Oncology and Hematology Unit, Internal Medicine Department, Zagazig University, during the period between October 2004 and October 2005 . Each patient was subjected to complete history, complete physical examination ,staging ,routine laboratory investigation and evaluation of cyclin D3 expression by immunohistochemistry. All patients were treated with CHOP protocol and evaluated after 3 cycles and responding patients continued for 6-8 cycles, then the response and toxicity were evaluated. Our results showed that: * High cycllnfr, expression was 37.5% of cases of newly discovered DLBCL. *High cyclin D3 expression was associated with advanced tumor stage, extra nodal disease in more than one site, B-symptoms and high risk IP. |
