Abstract

: the blrds wer~ housed individually in \’:ire cRees and e~·:poscd
eight ,. egg number ( per hen’), ege weight, egg mass ( per hen ) deeg shell-thickness.
’e es.rly and late mature erollps, ’,vhiJ.e in F,3..youmi, ec,rly mature oup vms superior to medium and late mature Groups.
4./rhe differences in eg~ weight between e;roups \’rithin breed re not sicnificant.
5. During the product ive pcriod8, the ee[~ number ( per hen) degg mass ( per hen) in both breeds li~cre~8ed gradually
om sexual maturity up to the maximum values in tne third
riod for Fayoumi <J . .nd in fourth period for L.S.L( peak of prodd~ion ) and decreased 8.fterw:-:.rd.
6. For both breedc, the eg~ wci:~ht increRscd with a~e
aching the maximum value at sixth period <J.nd remr1ined constant

7. Eg:; shell thickneso in both breeds was hiGher o.t first
second periods nnd decrea8ed markedly ni th following periods.

9. Most of economic cho.racteristics studied such as body

.• ’1 tht:~n ’~:lL’,t for Fayoumi.
12. The t.S.L he,s had a higher rate of mortality thc:Jn t of Fayoumi.
1. Comparing between breeds , it was found that the differeein heme.t()crit value, blood hemoglobin, mean corpuscuJ.E’.r
lobin concentration and specific gravity of whole blood
not significant.
2. ~he differences in sedimentation rate 8.fter one or tr’l’O between L.~.L and Fayoumi hens were sic;nificC1.nt.
3. For both breeds, there is no significant differences III properties between groups within breed.
4. In both breeds, hematocrit values, hemoglobin contcnt mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration ShOYled a marked
at se~~uo.l maturity, o.nd incre8.sed thereafter with the of age, except in L.S.1.
5. Sedimentation rate either after one or two hours in
~eeas increased markedly at the period of sexual maturity then declined with periods progress
6. In both breeds, the specific gr8vity of vnlo1e blood did
change with o.ge.
III. Cher.1icul constituentD of serum:
1. No siGnificant difference in serum Calcium was found tVleen the two breeds nnd groupo witnin breed.
2. For both breeds, the level of serum Calcium showed the ’?lent value o.t pre sexual m:l.tlu .... ity and increr-:.sed creo.tly at

3. Serwn inorznnic Pho;-;phorus showed hi~hor value lor oumi than that for L.S.JJ.
