Abstract This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the appropriatness of a new type of intermolecular potential for the description of the transport phenomena of non-polar gases. In the first chapter the basis of kinetic theory of non-polar gases, as well as, the nature of intermolecular interaction are discussed. The second chapter deals with the chapman-enskog solution of the Boltzmann equation and the definition of the transport coefficients. The third chapter is devoted to the detailed calculations of viscosity and thermal conductivity using the new types of potential introduced in the first chapter. The last chapter includes the discussion of the obtained results for the coefficient of viscosity at different temperatures and the comparison with the practical results. |
