Abstract Human beings have basic needs that are either instinctual or have been acquired during the socialization process. The needs are known to heighten and exacerbate during illness and/or hospitalization. Identification of such behavior indicators among newly admitted psychiatric patients is essential for effective treatment. Aims of the present study: 1. To assess the psychiatric patients’ health need on admission. 2. To develop and implement basic guidelines of care to meet the health needs of psychiatric patients on admission. 3. To evaluate the effect of the implanted guidelines of care on patients behavior. Material and methods: The study was carried out at the ”psychiatric unit of Alexandria university hospital – El hadara hospital” patients and nurses were included in the study: 1. Two groups of newly admitted psychiatric patients (50 patients each) A. One as assessment and B. The other as experimental group. |
