Abstract
This investigation was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Sids Horticulture Research Station and the Central Lab. Of Horticulture Research Institute, Minisitry of Agriculture, Egypt. The study involved two parts:
The first part:
Eight parental lines and their 40 F1 hybrids were evaluated. These parents were Kahera 6, Charentais, Ananas El-Dokki, Cinco, Top Mark, W 6, Shahd El-Dokki and June Canaria. The parental lines were planted in 1995 and selfed for two successive generation during the summer and fall growing seasons. In 1996, forty straight and reciprocal crosses were obtained from the hand crosses among the parental lines.
The second part: Laboratory Experiments: Identification and determination of volatile compounds of the fresh flesh muskmelon were done using Gas chromatograph (G-L-C) and Gas chromatographic mas-spectometer (GC-MS)QP 500 shimadzu equipment DB1 (303 x 0.250mm).
