Abstract
Application of a solvent extraction process was concerned in the present work for the covery of some valuable ingredients from a mixed sulfate waste effluent solution. Tb latter has resulted from hydrometallurgical processing concerning uranium refining an Ti02 pigment preparation. For this purpose, several extraction experiments have been a plied using DEHPA solvent diluted in kerosene upon the working waste effluent ho ever, after being subjected to a necessary pre - treatment step. In the meantime, it was found greatly important to study the sulfuric acid speciation i the working waste solution. In this study, special emphasis has been imposed upon th . HS04+ species which has proved to be quite instrumental in the extraction of the stud elements.
The obtained extraction results have been properly employed as a feed data in an overal suggested MA TLAB program. The latter leads to the prediction of the solvent extractio . type as well as the number of stages required for realizing this target. The suggested pro gram has in addition resulted in defining several conditions that should be fulfilled in or , der to carry out a successful extraction operation of the working waste solution.l
