Abstract The aim of this work was to study the expression of P16INK4a and its relationship with HPV in normal cervical tissue, different grades of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical squamous cell carcinoma., it was show a gradual significant increase in p16 expression for reaction intensity to reach highest expression in SCC. (Absence of strong expression for p16 reaction intensity in LSIL cases , to it’s appearance in HSIL cases (30%), and reach maximum strong positivity in SCC (40%) cases). this denote that the reaction intensity of p16 is increased with the progression from normal to LSIL and from LSIL to HSIL, and SCC. So reaction intensity parameter is one of the good indicator of the expression of p16, that show a significant difference between normal and CIN groups and between CIN groups and carcinomas group. This indicate that p16 is useful for separating HPV-negative patients from those infected with high oncogenic risk HPV in which oncogenesis has, already begun and point out that pl6 can be useful not only in separating low-grade lesions from high-grade ones, but also to suggest that low-grade lesions are at increased risk of progression to cancer |
