Abstract

Manzalah lake is one of the biggest, important lakes in egypt. It is a shallow lake with an average depth 110 cm. It is located in the western north of seuz canal, on the shore line of the mediterranean sea between dammietta and port-said cities. the lake gains its importance as it supplies about 20% of the national annual fish production in egypt. it receives its water from the mediterranean sea (from the north side, through El-Gammil inlet) plus several agricultural, industrial and sewage drains like bahr El-Baker, Hadus, Ramses drains(from the south side), Souffara, Ratma, Inaniya canals (from the western north side), fraskur, El-serw and gammaliya drains (from the western south side).
