Abstract

The onoomitant administ’mt±on of two or more ugs m oause a variation in the bioavilabulity of these drugs. Such variation is most probably due t the formation of some types of interaction between these drugs. Drug interaction, in some instances, is due to complex forniation. The study of tl phenomena of complex formation between drugs and their conseq— uence on drug availability seems, therefore of utmost importance
The interaGtion between the local anaGethotiGs, benzocain€ cinohocaine and procaine hydrochloride with sodium benzoate and sodiLi.m salioylate have been studied by spectral and sOlubility methods. The results indicated that these hydrotropic salts exerted a slight hyperohromio or bypoobromic effect on the U.V. absorption spectra of the above mentioned local anaesthtios. The effect of sodium benoate and sodium salicylate on the solubility of both benzooaine and oinchocaine was also studied at 3000. The results obtained were explained by the possible formation of we-alt molecular complexes and the salting in. effect of these hydrotroplo salts at high concentration.
