Abstract The work reported in this thesis is a study of the dYnamic behaviour of a system composed of a machine considered as a non-rigid body, mounted on a flexible supporting structure by means of a set of elastic isolating elements with damping. It is assumed that any undeterminable set of ’periodic forces generated during the operation of the machine is the source of vibrations. A theoretical model of the proolem was proposed where the machine and its foundation were assumed as elastic bodies, and the exciting forces considered periodic. The method of receptance was applied and this required some data that can only be obtained by direct experimental measurements. An experimental program was carried out on a model organized in such away to be close enough to the theo¬retical model proposed. A computer program was prepared in order to solve sets of linear algebraic equations for the amplitudes of vibrations of machine and construction, using the method of Guass-elimi¬nation. It was concluded that by using the above method it was possible to obtain the optimum values of the stiffness and dam¬ping coefficients of elastic suspensions corresponding to any assumed amplitude of vibration of a machine or structure having complicated shapes. |
